They opened up hot, taking a 2-1 lead deep into the second period before surrendering the final four goals in a 5-2 defeat. On Sunday, Northeastern took on the Irish again in a game that was suspended after two periods.

The game was suspended after two periods in a scoreless tie after a Zamboni malfunction. The third period is intended to be made up at a later date. NU had some positives to take away from the weekend, however, as goalie Jake Theut made his first career start Sunday and stopped 22 shots without allowing a goal. The penalty kill was also strong Sunday as the Huskies held the Irish to 0-for-5 on the power play.

Head Coach Jim Madigan acknowledged the team’s third period struggles following Saturday’s game, saying that “you need to play smart for 60 minutes to win.” He called the defense to action, and they responded Sunday before the unfortunate suspension.
