Down 3-0 to RIT with just under six minutes remaining in the second period, Northeastern (2-0-1) received goals from Lincoln Griffin, Garret Cockerill and Dylan Sikura in the game’s final 24 minutes to salvage a tie against the Atlantic Hockey foe.
In net, Northeastern goalie Cayden Primeau made 24 saves in keeping the comeback chance alive. The Huskies started 0-for-6 on the power play, but Sikura converted with just 2:40 remaining to send the game to overtime. Both teams successfully killed off a penalty in overtime to preserve the draw.
The Huskies will be back in action next weekend when they take on ECAC foe Quinnipiac at Matthews Arena. Both Friday and Saturday are scheduled for 7 p.m. WRBB will have complete coverage beginning at 6:45.
