Northeastern women’s hockey head coach Dave Flint will remain behind the Huskies’ bench for the foreseeable future after signing a new multi-year contract, the university announced Wednesday.

Fresh off leading the Huskies to a Frozen Four appearance this past season, Flint’s extension continues a tenure that has elevated Northeastern into the national spotlight. Since arriving in 2008, he has turned the program into a perennial contender, compiling nearly 400 wins at Northeastern and establishing himself as the winningest coach in school history.

“I would like to thank Jim Madigan and Northeastern University for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to continue building this program for the next five years,” Flint said in the press release. “With our incredible new facility on the horizon, the future of Northeastern women’s hockey has never been brighter.”

Under Flint’s leadership, the Huskies have become a fixture on the national stage. Northeastern has reached four Frozen Fours, made eight NCAA Tournament appearances, captured six Hockey East tournament championships, and won six Beanpot titles. The program has also appeared in ten consecutive Hockey East championship games, a testament to the consistency Flint has built over nearly two decades.

Beyond team success, Flint has developed some of the sport’s biggest stars. His players have earned some of the highest individual honors in women’s hockey, including multiple Patty Kazmaier Award finalists and winners. Flint has also earned a reputation for developing elite goaltenders, mentoring Team USA standouts Aerin Frankel and Gwyneth Philips, as well as current Northeastern netminder Lisa Jönsson.

For Flint, the extension represents an opportunity to continue building on a foundation that has made Northeastern one of the nation’s most respected programs.

“We have built a culture of success here that I am deeply proud of, and there is still so much more I want to accomplish,” Flint said. “I cannot wait to see what this program continues to achieve.”

With a new arena project on the horizon and the program continuing to compete among the nation’s elite, Flint’s return provides stability for a team that expects to remain in the national conversation for years to come.
