BOSTON- Zach Aston-Reese scored his second hat trick in as many games, and Ryan Ruck made 38 saves to lead Northeastern (7-7-4) to an 8-2 thrashing of Clarkson on Friday night at Matthews Arena. The win comes in Jim Madigan’s 200th career game at Northeastern, improving his career record to 86-88-26.

The Huskies got it going early scoring four goals in the first 12 minutes of play courtesy of Lincoln Griffin, Garret Cockerill, Dylan Sikura and Matt Filipe. Clarkson responded by pulling goalie Jake Kielly and answering with a goal of their own via Nic Pierog to cut the deficit to three heading into the locker room.

Any hope of a comeback was squashed just moments into the second period, though, when Zach Aston-Reese scored short handed to extend the Northeastern lead to four again. Adam Gaudette and Aston-Reese ensured the rout would continue scoring goals just under six minutes apart midway through the second frame.

Despite a Perry D’Arrisso goal eight minutes into the third period, Northeastern was able to put it on cruise control throughout the final 20 minutes, with Aston-Reese putting the cherry on top with his third goal of the night at the 13:41 mark.

The Huskies will return to action Tuesday night when they travel to Yale for a 7 p.m. matchup with the Bulldogs. Josh Brown and Dan McLoone will have the call from Ingalls Rink beginning at 6:45.
