BOSTON— On Senior Night for Devon Begley, the Northeastern Huskies made sure that he would leave his final game at Matthews Arena with a victory. The Huskies were led by Shawn Occeus, who broke out of his shooting slump in a big way. Occeus finished the game with 24 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists. He also held Towson’s leading scorer, Zane Martin, to 11 points on 5-16 shooting.

After Northeastern jumped out to a 17-7 lead, the Tigers roared back with a 15-0 run. Twelve first half turnovers by the Huskies helped Towson take a 31-30 lead into the half.

The second half was a different story for Northeastern, as they played aggressively and cut down on turnovers. After attempting just two free throws in the first half, they attempted 28 in the second. Vasa Pusica scored 12 points in the second half, and finished the game with 17 points and 7 assists. The Huskies led 73-69 with 1:35 remaining when Shawn Occeus knocked down a buzzer beater three to seal the victory for the Huskies.

With the victory, the Huskies are now 20-9 on the season, and 13-4 in CAA play. They are locked into the two seed in the CAA Tournament, and will play in the quarterfinals on Sunday, March 4. The Huskies wrap up the regular season Saturday at Elon.
